Small non-profit is seeking an experienced Controller with non-profit experience in the West Los Angeles area to oversee the accounting department. . The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in cash receipts, cash disbursements, monitoring of investments, financial reporting, and directing the work of others. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure accuracy and integrity of company's financial records and reports
Prepare monthly/quarterly and year-end financial reports of income and expenses
Establish and maintain accounting methods, reporting systems, policies and procedures in compliance with established administrative policies, regulations and
acceptable accounting principles and non-profit accounting principles.
Review and analyze quarterly and annual financial statements
Classification of revenues and expenses
Processing fund balances; rolling forward/closing out PL accounts; unrestricted, temporary, permanently restricted funds
Pledge accounting--cash, non-cash and related
Manage annual budget development process
Preparation of full disclosure financial statements
Perform financial forecasts
Analyze capital spending and cash flow
Arrange and facilitate audits as required
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Prior non-profit accounting experience; prefer For Profit accounting experience as well
5-10 yrs of accounting experience
Technical accounting skills/experience: accounting research, financial reporting
Ability to manage unusual incidents that affect financials
Familiarity with income tax rules
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Strong computer skills, advanced Excel a plus
* Ability to quickly learn new software and technology
