Qualifications and Skills:
General -- Technical and Design skills necessary to provide successful production of Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents for all sizes and types of corporate and commercial interior architecture. Excellent communication skills allowing for the clear delineation of project schedules, budgets, and design intent to project team, consultants, and senior leadership of the firm
Academic -- Minimum Bachelors Degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program
Licensure -- Registered Architect or Certified Interior Designer in the State of California is extremely desirable
ï§ Experience -- Minimum of six to eight years experience including two to three years as Job Captain Architect in a professional interior design or architect's office
Computer skills -- Proficiency in current versions of AutoCAD and Revit and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required; Microsoft Project fluency desirable
Proven success developing interior architectural projects -- would have strong, ongoing relationships with building departments, contractors and consultants
Proven mentoring success -- working with the project team to incorporate code requirements and constructability into all sets of documents
Professional Skills:
Substantial knowledge of design and planning principles for complex projects
Substantial knowledge of design development and presentation document requirements
Ability to direct others in developing detailed design requirements for all parts of a complex project with minimal supervision
Ability to work on more than one project at a time and to direct team members
Ability to, working with the Project Manager and Project Designer, direct junior and intermediate staff in developing / detailing the design intent into Construction Documents appropriate for bidding and permitting
Substantial knowledge of detailing, building materials and construction methods
ï§ Assist with estimating and monitoring project costs
Ability to perform all construction administration tasks for a wide range of projects and issue direct instruction to general contractor in conformance with Rapt's scope of services responsibilities
Provide guidance for discussions with building official.
Substantial knowledge of building and planning codes, including ADA/Title 24 accessibility criteria. Ability to interpret ordinances and negotiate with building officials on behalf of a project.
Ability to lead or provide substantial guidance for discussions/negotiations with building officials during construction.
Working knowledge of structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, acoustical and furniture systems integration.
Ability to use Revit and AutoCAD in hands-on manner in the development of project documents, including full construction documents.
Other Stuff:
Reports to Project Manager
Strong growth potential to move into project management role
Responsible for the mentoring of staff to focus all efforts toward a client service model
