Director of Accounting, Human Resources, and Administration
The company is an educational publisher and distributor in the K-12 school market. The company publishes over 100 titles each year, and distributes 15,000 titles from over 1,000 vendors. For nearly 50 years, the company has been a respected leader in the supplemental curriculum market.
This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the accounting operations of our company as well as the administration of Human Resources, including benefits and payroll.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Account Receivable
- Establish and enforce best practice financial and operational controls
- Manage banking and cash management functions
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Effectively manage complex royalty and commission schedules in order to make timely and accurate payments.
- Assist the company's annual review process with an outside CPA
- Coordinate and perform month-end closing process and periodic financial reporting
- Oversee the filing and reporting of taxes on local, state and federal level.
- Prepare, compile and maintain payroll -- including clerical tasks required to prepare payroll data
- Administer the company's health, dental, and disability insurance plans.
- Contribute to the company's ERP System Implementation.
- Oversee the integrity of company's physical and electronic filing system
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent plus six (6) to ten (10) years of accounting experience
- Understanding of payroll-related laws and tax returns.
- Must be well organized, accurate, and attentive to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Able to maintain confidential information.
- Experience with Microsoft NAV Dynamics, or comparable ERP system.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload
