WOODCRAFT RANGERS - Director of Finance
THE ORGANIZATION
Woodcraft Rangers is a non-profit youth organization serving the Los Angeles area for the past 90 years. The majority of children served through Woodcraft are children with limited opportunities who live in South Central and Central Los Angeles, Pacoima, and other parts of the San Fernando Valley. Woodcraft Rangers helps children and youth become happy, productive adults able to make good decisions through camping, youth groups and other activities. Our overall goal is to reduce unproductive uses of leisure time, increase positive educational/cultural/recreational activities, and to enhance the attachment of parents and youth to school as a support system.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Responsible for the monthly analysis of over 65 departmental operating reports, and generating external and internal reports. Finance oversight entails direct oversight of all treasury functions, including invoicing, collections, cash management, operations budgeting, financial reporting, and reporting to the Finance Committee. Manages the financial resources of the organization including accounting, finance, organization-wide budgets, and treasury in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and organization/contract policies and procedures; safeguards assets through the maintenance of proper controls.
External reports are generated for grant funding reimbursements and foundation accounting. Internal reports are generated for program monitoring, budget comparison, and financial reporting to management and Board. Develops the annual agency budget in coordination with the CEO. Oversees the finance department and 5 staff members.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
External:
Responsible for timely preparation and remittance of funding requests and reimbursements.
Responsible for the maintenance of financial files in accordance with contract standards.
Responsible for the oversight of audits by funders.
Responsible for conducting periodic audits of subcontractors in accordance with government contract standards.
Internal:
Oversees preparation of agency annual budget.
Provides monthly variance analysis for field and executive management.
Prepares fiscal budgets and reports for funding proposals.
Coordinates and oversees fieldwork completion for annual audit.
Special projects and reports for management, on as needed basis.
Manages short-term and long-term cash planning.
Responsible for all invoicing and collection activities.
Responsible for all cash disbursements.
Oversees all banking responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in administrative coordination, supervision, accounting, and writing contracts. Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability. Knowledge of community; local outreach, all binding policies, protocol for non-profit management.
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration or Business Administration and/or related field. Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting and administrative management.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration and/or related field. Five years' experience in accounting or finance related position with non-profit experience preferred.
COMPENSATION
Annual Salary range is $62,000-$75,000 DOE plus benefits
