Scope of Job
The Media/Paid Search Analyst will support clients' marketing goals by employing a variety of tactical media strategies and techniques including, but not limited to, search pay-per-click, search engine optimization, A/B and multivariate testing, internal search optimization, display advertising, etc. This role also includes analytics and reporting, performance optimization, developing and implementing optimization strategy and client consultation. While Media Analyst's core competency is in the digital channel, s/he has a basic understanding of multiple channels and their role in paid, owned, earned and shared media as it relates to clients' campaigns.

As a secondary focus, the Media/Paid Search Analyst will be responsible for cross-channel data analytics and providing performance insight on social listening, call tracking, site usage behaviors, mobile usage, email response, etc. Comprehensive data evaluation may also include a qualitative data review and secondary research review as needed. Additionally, the Media /Paid Search Analyst will collaborate with his/her respective department and other internal teams to foster learning opportunities in the areas of media and analytics practices.

Specific Role Responsibilities

Campaign Management and Analytics
Plan and execute paid search campaigns (e.g., pay-per-click search engine marketing, paid inclusion, and other pay-for-performance marketing).
Establish keyword strategies (list building and keyword expansion).
Write clear, concise search ad copy.
Maintain and operate day-to-day campaign spend and allocation for client's paid search portfolio.
Identify and execute optimization recommendations to increase campaign ROI.
Assist with campaign technical implementation and support trouble-shooting.
Manage bid tools for campaign trafficking, optimization and reporting.
Daily integration with the major search engines including Google, Yahoo and MSN.
Deliver comprehensive campaign analytics including, but not always limited to, paid search insights (may also include organic search, other paid media formats, website, social, mobile, qualitative, secondary data, etc.).
Identify testing/optimization opportunities and develop testing strategies across various digital channels as needed (e.g., A/B, multivariate); report on testing results and provide actionable insights/recommendations.
Act as project lead Analyst on development initiatives as assigned by Manager.
Work directly with Manager on vetting strategic recommendations prior to sharing with larger internal team and clients.
Keep Manager, Client Services Director and Executive Sponsor informed of overall status as it relates to team, clients, and projects.
Communicate and consult regularly with clients as it relates to subject matter expertise.

Research Development and Knowledge Share
Work closely with respective department, Client Services, Creative and Technology as needed to research and identify external knowledge sharing opportunities such as webinars, white papers, etc.
Work with Manager understand each team on a detailed level to further leverage available resources and spark positive collaboration across the agency.
Work on approved RD projects as assigned by Manager.
Work with Manager to identify areas for process improvement and new solutions.
Research search industry trends and tools and share knowledge both internally and with clients.

Business Development
Provide support to both clients and EMG Client Services team for developing and scoping media and analytics related project opportunities.
Collaborate with Manager and EMG Marketing team for ongoing improvement of internal and external media and analytics competencies and EMG brand recognition for media and analytics capabilities.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Demonstrated performance as a marketing specialist and minimum of 1-2 years experience directly developing, launching and managing campaigns for paid and organic searches or other digital media.
Proven experience with Google Adwords and Microsoft AdCenter for clients with lead generation, e-commerce or content management based websites.
Understanding of Google Mini and Google Search appliances.
Proficiency with various web analytic tools such as Omniture, Google Analytics, and Webtrends and experience with initial consultation, implementation, developing key performance indicators, reporting and providing user training.
Adept at evaluating a variety of data sources , platforms and channels including paid media, web, social, mobile, etc.
Understanding of web production process and a familiarity with HTML and other web-based technology.
Understanding of emerging media, platforms and technologies and impact to clients' campaigns.
Experience with campaign creative optimization (e.g., copy and landing page), A/B testing or multivariate testing.
Developing content, creating and implementing display banner ads, email marketing and social marketing campaigns, media buying a plus.
Experience with SEO or other earned media initiatives a plus.
Must have mathematical skills and the ability to scrutinize data and corresponding metrics in detail.
Must have previous experience consulting with clients.
Must have attention to detail and strong follow-through capabilities.
Must have excellent client communication, both verbal and written.
Must have rapport building skills that reflect a highly ethical demeanor and sincerity.
Must have demonstrated experience providing actionable insights based on comprehensive data analysis.
Ability to collaborate with other team members to develop the overall solution.
Proficient in office applications such as MS Office suite and Outlook.
Proficient in prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines and producing quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working in healthcare, higher education, highly regulated (e.g., financial services) or entertainment fields fields is a plus.

Education
Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Marketing, Advertising, Mathematics, etc.
