FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: The Executive Director is responsible for providing the strategic leadership and management for Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times. The role will oversee annual fundraising and capital campaign activities, marketing, programs, management of all fiscal resources, supervision of employees, and business operations in accordance with standard business practices. The Executive Director works with and supports the Chief Executive Officer for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California (RMHCSC) and Camp Board of Trustees to define Camp's priorities, build and develop teamwork among members and other volunteer leaders, and ensure program and fiscal accountability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Management and Administration:
-Design and implement the fundraising plan with the Board of Trustees as it relates to capital campaign and annual fund development goals, board fund development, donor prospecting, and major gifts.
-Provide leadership in developing organizational and financial plans with the Board of Trustees and other staff.
-Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in nonprofit management, camp programming, and philanthropy.
-Oversee and ensure maintenance and accuracy of financial and donor databases.
-Maintain fiscal responsibility for annual budget.
-Manage relations with media in partnership with McDonald's Operators Association of Southern California public relations agency and other media partners at Camp.
-Develop staff into a cohesive and collaborative working team.
-Participate as an active and contributing member of the RMHCSC Leadership Team.
-Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
-Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations especially as they pertain to nonprofit organizations.

Fundraising:
-Direct all fundraising efforts including capital, major gifts, corporate, foundation, government, and individual giving.
-Direct and oversee special events in coordination with special events manager.
-Effectively engage board members in fundraising and development.

Board Relations and Communications:
-Assist the Board of Trustees in maintaining and promoting the vision and mission of the Camp.
-Work with the Trustee President to ensure effective and efficient Board committee structure and operations.
-Communicate regularly with the Trustee President and key committee leaders.
-Serve as staff liaison to Board committees as appropriate.
-Assist in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new Board members and officers.
-Assist the Trustee President in planning the agenda and materials for the Board meetings and the annual Board planning retreats.
-Provide a monthly written Executive Director's Report at Trustee meetings. Ensure that strategic materials are distributed in advance of all meetings.

Public Relations and Communications:
-Develop and implement marketing timeline and communications plans.
-Ensure appropriate representation as a spokesperson to all Camp stakeholders.
-Oversee development of event programs, brochures, fliers, and all other publications. Provide input on RMHCSC annual report.
-Maintain positive relationships with local McDonald's owner/operators and other corporate supporters of Camp and the charity.

Employee Management:
-Provide for adequate supervision, goal setting, and evaluation of all staff and volunteers.
-Manage approved personnel policies.
-Ensure proper hiring and termination procedures as required by law.
-Oversee any and all coaching and counseling actions.
-Encourage staff and volunteer development and education.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Work Experience:
-Bachelor degree with at least 7 to 10 years experience in senior-level management.
-Experience fundraising in a nonprofit organization and demonstrated success with prior capital campaign.
-Executive Director level experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
-Demonstrated experience with office management; knowledge of administrative programs; ability to establish effective relationships with other management staff, employees, and the general public; ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
-Oversee Site Director, Program Director, Director of Development, Special Events Manager, Office Manager.

Qualifications:

Established experience with development, sales, or sponsorship. Special events and cause-related marketing experience a plus. Language Skills:
-Read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, board members, families and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:
-Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as annual budget needs, discounts, interest, and commissions.

Reasoning Ability:
-Solve problems with a variety of concrete variables and limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
-Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Raiser's Edge fund development software.
