Part-time Visitor Services Assistant (Temporary) (Century City, CA)

This is a temporary part-time position that will start on June 19, 2012 and end on October 7, 2012.

Overview:

Responsible for creating a memorable guest and visitor experience at the Annenberg Space for Photography by being the first direct point of contact with all visitors, including but not limited to: Walk-up guests, tour groups, VIPs, and Directors, ensuring a best-in-class visitor experience at the facility

Key Accountabilities:
 Provides visitor orientation to the Surface tables, digital and print photography, Workshop, and Library. Serves as public access point for the Photography Space's other departments (Events Hospitality, Operations, Talent Content, Communications).
 Proactively, positively, and professionally answers questions from walk-in guests and tours. Provides relevant information concerning photography, exhibits and the Photography Space.
 Leads public and private tour groups through the Photography Space.
 Constantly monitors the visitor experience to meet visitor needs and requests, including proactively helping visitors have a full and enjoyable experience. Proposes suggestions to management for solutions to continually improve this experience.
 Monitors maintenance issues, including the operation of the technology and facilities to regularly report to cleaning and operations staff
 Responds quickly, effectively, and professionally to challenging situations with the public, with the ultimate goal of ensuring visitor security and safety.
 Takes particular care of visitors with special needs (e.g., handicap access, etc.)
 During regular events, consistently and successfully executes event plans, while still exercising flexibility due to unpredictable circumstances.
 Helps to maintain clean and organized visitor spaces.
 Conducts on-the-floor training of interns and volunteers on an as-needed basis.
 Assists the Visitor Services Associate and Events Hospitality Manager in other areas as requested.
 Participates in Visitor Services team initiatives, including regular meetings.
 Provides backup coverage for both the Front Desk Visitor Services Assistant and the Gallery Visitor Services Assistant.
 Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibility.

Hours: Shifts will be 4 or 5 days per week from 20 -- 25 hours on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday between 11 am -- 6pm and weekends are required. In addition, on Thursdays Saturdays shifts are between 11 am -- 9pm (you must be able to work until 9 pm). (There will be 3 Saturdays July 14th, July 21st and August 4th during the summer where staff will be expected to work until 11 pm). This position will start on June 19, 2012 and end on October 7, 2012.

Working Conditions:

 Work requires long periods of standing primarily in a public venue environment
