Buyer, Electronic Components (Chatsworth)

An established electronic contract manufacturing company is seeking to hire a buyer. The buyer will be responsible for program management and follow-up for assigned customers for the purchasing department to ensure that the company has what is needed to meet the customer's delivery schedule. The buyer should possess good business judgement and be able to purchase materials following basic guidelines with minimal supervision. A solid background and working understanding of purchasing and planning is needed in order to make decisions regarding purchase quantities, packaging and other options. Additional duties include interfacing with customers to solve AVL and lead-time issues. The buyer must coordinate with production to ensure timely delivery of products. Primary tasks will be to:
- Prepare quotations per established quidelines
- Enter sales orders into DBA (MRB) system
- Create work orders and create system part numbers
- Buy materials per customer forecast
- Provide daily program status to Manager
- Prepare end of month billing reports for specific customers material usage
- File, maintain and update project files
- Other duties as may be assigned.

Buyer/ applicant must have a minimum of 3 years experieince in a purchasing role (that includes customer interaction) in an electronic manufacturing environment. Must be computer literate - MS Word Intermediate level Excel with database management skill is CRITICAL; must be able to communicate requirements to customers; must be familiar with technical engineering documentation and BOM structures and be able to recognize and manipulate various file formats. Buyer must have experience with distribution and buying electronic components. Excellent communication skills are required, both verbal and written, in support of interface with internal and external customers.
