Flow International Corporation ("Flow") is looking for a Sr. Procurement Engineer to join its team of global supply chain professionals. Interested individual must possess a passion for supporting and improving the business through sourcing, project management and supplier management.
We are seeking Senior Procurement Engineers with CNC machining experience in our Kent, Washington location!
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead design technical collaboration at all stages with the project design team. Lead the Interface between design team suppliers during product development and roll-out;
- Locate and recommend potential suppliers. Visit suppliers on a regular basis.
- Fully understand print specifications and effectively communicate these with suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier process capabilities regarding specific product designs.
- Evaluate supplier performance including quality, delivery, price and technical support.
- Create and lead the supplier selection process based on total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Build maintain mutually beneficial supplier partnerships by fostering feedback continuous improvement;
- Negotiate and manage all contracts and agreements for assigned commodities;
- Control the project's purchased material costs and assure an adequate supply source by implementing appropriate sourcing strategies;
- Provide competitive advantage in the areas of materials, supplies, and services by implementing appropriate and effective sourcing strategies;
- Responsible for qualification of materials used and for supplier development and management. Focal point for performance and corrective action for materials used in company products.
- Works on complex technical, quality and manufacturing problems/projects with suppliers where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
- Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to complex technical and manufacturing issues, and is regarded as a subject matter expert in the technical field.
- Investigates new materials/suppliers when appropriate, and makes the necessary changes in the commodities used in the manufacturing process to ensure production capacity can be met.
- Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
- Advanced knowledge of procurement principles, theories, and processes
- Auditing experience preferably in ISO standards
- Solid understanding of ISO and other Quality Management Systems
- Working experience in cross-functional team environment
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and motivate others
- Computer literacy and intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office products
- Experience in ERP/MRP programs a plus, preferred
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record in cost reduction and control
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and 3D models.
- Ability to read and interpret GDT.
- Strong Knowledge of best practice measuring techniques and tools.
- Estimated 25% domestic and international travel
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering with 5+ years of experience or 7-10 years of experience in a CNC machine shop
- 10+ years of progressive procurement experience required
- Advanced knowledge of procurement principles, theories, and processes
- 10+ years of general materials or manufacturing experience in a CNC machine shop required
- 7+ years of experience in product development preferred
- Proven experience with process control methodologies (Cpm/Cpk)
- CPIM, CRP and Six Sigma certification preferred. Eligible for opportunity to receive certification.
