Essential Duties Responsibilities Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Participates as a member of a team in the month-end close to assure timely and accurate reporting. Assists the Accounting Manager/Controller/Associate Chief Financial Officer with the accounting entries, the preparation of the Monthly Financial Statements and other related tasks.
  • Assists the Assistant Controller/Controller/Associate Chief Financial Officer with writing of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assures the accuracy and timely reporting of accounting data and financial analysis.
  • Supports the processes that assist managers in making strategic and operational databased decisions by delivering timely, accurate and relevant financial information.
  • Participates in the annual audit: prepares audit schedules and provides information to the auditors, as requested.
  • Provides assistance to the CFO, Associate Chief Financial Officer and Controller as requested.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and verifies various business transactions including all revenues, expenses, and accruals;
  • Prepares journal entries; Performs investigations and complex analyses of data.
  • Reviews monthly general ledger for accuracy with and provides periodic updates, variance analysis and performance reports to Controller, Associate Chief Financial Officer and CFO;
  • Provides support to Controller and Associate Chief Financial Officer with Annual Financial Audits, Contract Audits, and any additional audits as necessary.
  • Performs constant monitoring of financial and accounting requests and submissions to assure compliance with policy. Reviews expense reporting including credit card and expense report reconciliations for accuracy and compliance with policy.
  • Performs a wide variety of special projects and data gathering functions as well as developing reports as necessary.
  • Prepares specialized reports, analysis and financial models; present results of analysis.
  • Reviews month-end financial reports, constructs financial statements, provides variance analysis, researches financial irregularities, and uses the analysis to develop meaningful financial reporting.
  • Coordinates and develops ad hoc analysis as required.
  • Provides support to other Finance Department staff, as required.
  • Cross-trains on Fixed Assets, Bank Reconciliations and other accounting functions.


Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience Bachelors degree (B.A.) in Accounting from four-year college or university and two to five years related experience, preferably in an international non-profit and health care, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Computer/Software Skills Abilities To perform this job successfully, and individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP system, and Access software. Knowledge of managed care software helpful.


Other Skills Abilities/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of managed care (HMO) financing concepts, health care market place, and health delivery systems.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks including project management and quantitative analysis.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
