Technical Sales Manager

Our company, a leading provider of packaging and desiccant products for over 19 years, is seeking an experienced, hands-on, technically-oriented sales manager that is highly effective in [1] small business as well as corporate sales, [2] management of internal sales representatives and other sales support staff, and [3] management of sales-related activities such as tradeshows, sales promotions, etc.
Key capabilities and attributes for a successful candidate would include the following:
Strong sales background in a technical/industrial product environment, and the ability to quickly become expert in our company's products services.
Ability to manage client relationships through the entire sales process.
Ability to effectively manage sales representatives to do the same.
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to maximize gross margins.
Ability to tightly manage on-time delivery of all customer action items.
Ability to tightly manage customer quotes written by sales reps.
Ability to deliver a high level of responsiveness on incoming leads via sales team members.
Ability to develop customized solutions for potential customers.
Necessary skills would include the following:
Strong selling negotiation capabilities.
Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
Exceptional on-time follow-through on assignments and action items.
Strong motivational and leadership skills.
Strong listening, teaching and team-building skills.
Strong self-sufficiency and initiative.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong computer and Web skills. (Note: Experience working with a CRM or other contact management system is a major plus but is not a mandatory requirement.)
Professional communication skills, both written and oral.
Must be willing to travel to customers and tradeshows (approximately 10%-15%).
This position reports directly to the President. Our company is on the smaller side (less than 30 employees) but we have a great team.
