Development Assistant
The Development Assistant works collaboratively with the Development Director and Department in a progressive, upbeat Catholic organization to raise funds to expand and sustain programming. Responsibilities include helping communicate with and acknowledge supporters, developing materials and appeals to further outreach, and writing, proofreading and editing a variety of newsletters, on-line content and other media. We are looking for a bright, energetic person who wants to have meaningful work with diverse people who help those on the margins of our world. You should be a motivated and thoughtful team player, having some Development and/or non-profit experience, and be interested in learning both the world of Development and the world of the Sisters of Social Service.

Key job responsibilities
Assists with the fundraising/development efforts in a multi-faceted non-profit that works for social justice, economic development and provides social service work
Manages multiple databases and provides administrative support for development efforts --- performs duties involving gift and database management, preparation of support materials and general administrative activities (donor tracking, thanks yous, basic reports , data analysis and proof reading)
Works collaboratively in a progressive, upbeat, faith-based environment
Assists with creating materials, presentations, and outreach that helps to communicate the SSS mission, ministries and works (photos, displays, websites, e-newsletter, print newsletter)
Donor relations

Required job qualifications/experience
1. Excellent database management skills -- attention to details, experience with Donor Perfect or other fundraising databases preferred (please tell us what dbase you have experience with)
2. Excellent computer skills
(Excel, Word, mailmerge, spreadsheets, e-mailing, internet research skills)
3. Intermediate writing skills (web content, proofreading/editing skills a plus)
4. Donor recognition experience
Thank you letters, basic foundation letters, special event coordination
4. Non-profit or community-based organization experience
2-4 years of experience at a non-profit, faith-based or community organization setting in an administrative setting or similar experience
5. Community outreach abilities
6. Experience working with and for diverse populations
