Newtek Business Services, Inc., (Nasdaq: NEWT), The Small Business Authority, has an immediate opening for a Payroll Administrator/ABSS in our West Hempstead, NY location. Successful candidate will interact directly with customers to monitor, manage and reconcile payroll related questions and concerns. Work as a liaison between sales and customers to complete the customer onboarding process by gathering all pertinent payroll data to ensure a smooth transition on to the Newtek Payroll System.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily triage of incoming payroll issues and transactions for customers
Work with the sales team to understand customer expectations and help "close the deal" by gathering pertinent paperwork and
Payroll conversion of new customers on to the Newtek payroll system
With supervision, work in a proactive manner to ensure accurate payroll tax filings
Uploading customer information -- tax codes, new hire and workers compensation
Including but not limited to uploading tax, new hire and workers compensation data to the appropriate 3rd party providers
Process quarterly and annual payroll tax return to include Federal, State and Local tax reconciliation
Ongoing customer support via email and phone to include monitoring a group email box to ensure customers are responded to in a timely fashion
Investigate and process prior quarter adjustments as needed to include working directly with taxing jurisdictions
Administrative duties and data entry of customer information
Documentation of payroll features and functionality as needed
Provide support and training to customers on the payroll system
Other duties may be assigned
Requirements:
Successful candidate will possess:
1-3 years Payroll experience
Previous payroll service bureau experience
Strong math aptitude
Previous experience in payroll implementation is desirable
Intermediate knowledge of laws and regulations regarding payroll taxes and withholding
Proven knowledge of compliance and filing of local, state and federal tax deposits and returns
Basic knowledge of payroll tax return preparation
Knowledge in preparing and gathering customer payroll data for payroll conversions
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong written and communications skills a must.
Must be able to work independently and as part of an extremely busy team.
Ability to multitask in an extremely fast-paced environment and act with a sense of urgency and ownership
