Ad Agency Graphic Designer (Downtown Los Angeles)

Ad Agency Graphic Designer (Downtown Los Angeles)

Everything we do here gets treated as if we're working on the Sistine Chapel (just ask our clients). Because while Michelangelo may have painted it, it was the Pope who gave it the old thumbs-up - a perfect metaphor for the work we do for our clients, and how we feel about it and them.

OK, maybe not a perfect metaphor, but hopefully you get the idea.

Which is why we're looking for a devoutly-detailed, religiously-hungry, reverently-creative, holy-moly-Mac designer who's ambitious, aspiring, determined, earnest, energetic, enthusiastic, kind, virtuous, zealous, righteous, and warmhearted. A divine designer who not only has a good grasp of all-things-Adobe, but who's also both creatively driven AND logically motivated - you know, that right-brain-left-brain mantra our company philosophy is filled to the brim with. We're looking for a full-time (or part-time-with-intentions) Graphic Design Zealot who's able to embrace anything thrown his/her way. We're talking about all-things-graphic, from logo sketches to final vector art, website design to optimized export and upload, billboard concepting to mechanicals and press checks. Our work runs some pretty diverse paths, including print and trade ads, outdoor signage, interior design, static animated interactive ads, iPhone apps, PDF forms, Shuttle wraps, email marketing, social e verything, RFP design, Keynote presentations, menu board design, container lids, ingredient labels, posters, banners, swag, flyers, mailers, coupons, holiday cards, brochures, catalogues, ... and oh, yeah... broadcast commercials from time to time.

And those are just the projects we currently have on our "Active Jobs" server. Wait til tomorrow.

In other words, we're looking for someone who gets juiced about working on anything and everything, who takes great direction and follows brand guidelines, and who can bring a little creative spark to our laboratories. In a nut-shell, someone who's not only an awesomely talented up-and-coming designer, but who's also a production artist longing for a small, hands-on environment in which they can - and will - make an immediate impact on both our clients' businesses as well as our own little shop. We're seeking someone who's hungry to learn and grow continuously, and who refuses to buckle under the pressure of mounds of jobs with massively tight deadlines. Someone who's detail oriented and a master of mechanicals. Who's at home at a press check, yet equally comfortable in a creative brainstorm session. Who works as well in traditional design as they do within the online space. And who has a passion for learning new tools for new jobs, and do whatever it takes to make our client s proud.

Have we mentioned the part about being detail-oriented? This one's kind of important -- our Sacred Designers' Dogma if you will -- as there's no room for error in our business. We judge everyone here by their attention to the smaller things, because in this business, its the small things that often make the biggest difference. Just sayin'.

But possibly most importantly - and we say this in all of our job posts - we're looking for someone who has a sense of humor and is a nice, warm, fun, admirable, caring person that we can welcome into our little family. Because we really do believe that finding the right "fit" is as much about personality as it is about talent.

DESIRED SKILLS EXPERIENCE

MUST: Be a self-starter and able to handle a job from start (comps) to finish (mechanicals); Take great direction, be respectful of the work, and operate fully on all cylinders even when handed a very "limited" style guide; Thrive under tight deadlines (seriously); Be a Master of all-things-Mac (sorry, no PC's here), including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and Keynote; Know their way around basic HTML, CSS and online email marketing platforms; Be adept at handling, editing and creating vector artwork; Respect and practice the fine art of kerning; Be a font-nerd; Have at least a basic knowledge of the printing process, and be comfortable going on press checks; Be a team player and actually appreciate the Account Team; Be trustworthy, good with people (you'll have opportunities to deal directly with the client), not take yourself too seriously, and be a generally nice person to have around the office. And maybe most importantly, clearly understand that we work in an ego free zone.

Oh, and did we mention the detail-oriented thing? We did? OK, just checking.

So there you have it. Here at Dreamentia, we really are religiously fervent about what we do. And where we do it. And we honestly consider ourselves friends to our clients first, and business partners second. We've even designated our little shop as an "Ego-Free" Zone (meaning, if you have one, this would probably not be the best place for you to bring it.) So, if this sounds like a place in which you could see yourself growing, thriving, and making a hallelujah-kind-of-impact, drop us a note with "Divine Designer" in the subject line and include your resume, cover letter, salary history, and a link to your portfolio ... as well as anything else you feel will help raise you up above the masses.
