New York City Bike Share -- Finance and Administration Director
Job Summary
Bicycle sharing is a sustainable, healthy, and community-based transportation option that enhances urban livability and mobility. New York City Bike Share is excited to announce the beginning of its operations in New York City with up to 10,000 bikes and 600 stations in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
New York City Bike Share is seeking an experienced Finance and Administration Director to oversee all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, insurance, tax, and treasury activities related to launch and managing the New York City Bike Share on an ongoing basis. You'll be part of a ground breaking team, hands-on team that focuses on establishing practices and procedures for the organizations financial policies.
Primary Responsibilities
Accounts Payable and Vendor Relations:
Maintain efficient system of A/P control, payment approvals, invoice processing.
Ensure P-card system is effectively utilized, approved and recorded.
Maintain system of equipment purchasing control and accounting.
Accounts Receivable and Client Relations:
Learn and apply contractual billing provisions, document compliance with same, generate timely monthly and ad hoc invoices to clients.
Monitor A/R and collection status.
Budgeting, Analysis and Operational Reporting:
Establish and support the annual budget cycle, and regularly report against it for each operational system. Prepare budget reports by operational system.
Maintain and report monthly and ad hoc analytic information for each system and legal entity. Prepare financial reports by operational system and consolidate to company level.
Report system financial results and profit shares to client municipalities as required by contracts.
Develop and/or verify pro-forma financial information included in bids for new business.
General Accounting:
Prepare and maintain accruals for prepaid expenses, unearned revenues, etc, and all other journal entries for GAAP financial close.
Maintain fixed asset and depreciation records, accounting and tax basis.
Generate GAAP-compliant legal entity financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, equity statement and cash flow statement), at least quarterly
Consolidate books annually and as requested, support annual CPA review process for ABS and APD. Monitor compliance with credit line covenants and other financial requirements under contracts.
Prepare weekly Key Indicators reports to principals, and ad-hoc reporting and analyses as requested.
Work under the guidance of the General Manager.
Requirements
BS degree in accounting, business, or related field.
CPA and 8-12 years relevant experience, including management accounting, internal controls and fully GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
Experience contributing to general management processes and decisions.
Experience with QB and other electronic accounting/reporting tools.
High proficiency in Excel (H- and V-LOOKUPS, IF functions, data validation, etc.)
Excellent organization and communication skills; ability to meet deadlines.
Job may require travel
Job may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week
