Assistant to founder in healthcare startup (Westwood)

I am seeking a person to work closely with me in a dual-role job: first, helping launch a start-up that delivers healthcare over the Internet, and second, assisting me in managing my current patients. I am a physician on the UCLA clinical faculty (my specialty is psychopharmacology) and my office is located in Westwood. Your work with my patients will include helping administer computer-based evaluations, conveying medication orders to pharmacies, scheduling and processing payments, and most importantly, being the friendly and accessible face of the practice. Your role in the startup will be as my primary assistant, working closely with me on every aspect of building the company.

This position is an opportunity for someone eager to get a prominent role (and equity) in an innovative company at an early stage. I anticipate that the company will greatly improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare, and that it will be a major commercial success. There are currently five people working on it full or part time, and you will be the sixth.

I have a family with young children, and my schedule is constrained, so you will often be acting as a proxy for me. Your role will be vital, and if you do well, you will remain in the ranks of top management as the company grows beneath us. The job is a rare opportunity but it will require long hours, and will be a good fit only for someone hungry to play a key role in an ambitious start-up.

As we are an Internet company, the more technology savvy you are, the better. Experience on start-ups and in healthcare would be welcome but not required. Most important are intelligence, creativity, initiative, diligence, efficiency, and judgment.
