Junior Editorial Designer (Los Angeles)

Respectable Company is seeking a talented young Junior Editoral Designer to join our editorial team in Los Angeles. We're looking for someone who has a passion and understanding for design, from infographics to publication design to illustration. We demand high-quality design for our daily website, quarterly magazine, and other digital platforms, and the junior designer will work with the editorial design director to make it happen. The ideal candidate will quickly turn ideation into final output quickly, adapt to the needs of the content we create, and be eager for feedback.

Responsibilities:

- Work closely with the editorial team to create illustrations and infographics on a wide range of topics
- Aid the editorial design director in publication design, both in print and in digital formats
- Meet deadlines and fulfill assignments
- Assist other design initiatives across the company
- Work collaboratively with the rest of editorial team

We're looking for someone who:

- Is passionate about design and has outstanding skills, from editorial design and layout, to illustration and infographics and branding
- Has proficient knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (CS4 or higher), with a strong eye for layout design and composition
- Understands and is able to work with data
- Has a BFA in graphic design and a minimum of 2 years working experience
- Is interested in getting off the computer to make some pieces
- Is comfortable working in a small, high-intensity start-up like environment
- Has worked with an editorial staff
- CSS/HTML and other coding knowledge a plus
