As the Technology/Graphics expert for an entrepreneur (who is currently planning two new companies) your job will be his full time-salaried, very--organized illustrator, technology expert and graphic artist with the challenge and responsibility for all his extensive technology needs, and evolutionary needs (see below).
This job requires the following skill set, or the ability to quickly master the skills below:
Ability to manage projects from concept through completion. Past projects have included: analyzing morphing software options, phone system upgrades, server updates, backup system upgrades, to designing and collaborating on various technical needs for events (Examples: Projectors, original iOS puzzles, GPS tracking and communication)
Organization is pivotal. So much information, tasks, product serial numbers, software updates, mailbox sizes, etc. will be your responsibility and must be continually updated often on a daily basis.
Excellent troubleshooting talents -- Must be able to identify and diagnose a problem and come up with a solution or a workaround. All of which must be explainable in clear and easy to understand ways. (This job is not only maintenance, but also education.)
Quick Learner --Must be able to research, learn, and demonstrate new software, technologies, products, and methods then teach these to the boss and employees; and be a living reference guide to their questions.
Innovative thinker -- You should be able to foresee upcoming problems with the systems and technology in place, have solutions prepared, or when a problem occurs be able to come up with the best solution and implement it in as little time as possible. Creative ideas are always appreciated!
Graphic Artist (Understand graphic concepts, design, color matching, photo alteration, touch--up, and desktop publishing)
Ability to use Large Scale Printers (Adjust files for color, resolution, and format for printing, and print posters for various events and social needs)
Ability to manage Photo archives using iPhoto, Aperture, and Lightroom; and understand the disc structure and formats of various static memory cards (Compact Flash, SD, Mini/Micro SD, Memory Stick Duo, etc.), Knowledge of instant book publishing (iPhoto/Aperture) is a plus.
Ability to perform huge data and archive Management (Managing and archiving many TB of multimedia data often dealing with unique situations such as 500+GB single file photo libraries.) 0% data loss is absolutely essential.
Ability to patiently and cooperatively assist computer users - Mostly Mac, some Windows-Accounting department and PC-Based security camera software
Must keep detailed update records on all computers and equipment, note and recommend "when the time/needs are right" to upgrade, and keep all machines current with all necessary updates, patches, and software.
Must have excellent experience syncing data between multiple computers, portable devices, and manage a backed-up sync source.
Network/Internet/E-mail Administration (Manage two separate wired and multi-router wireless networks, Exchange and IMAP servers. Website and domain registration and management. Understand and manage static IPs for call loggers, Security System Access, remote access support, etc.)
Security/Alarm System Administration (Multi-Camera DVR System management, Alarm system troubleshooting, technician management)
Job task Documentation (Daily logging and documenting job responsibilities including technical details and writing directions.)
QuickTime and Multi-media Production (Export clips from Security Systems remotely, make masters for Music CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays, with labels, menus, and understand the process to duplicate in house.)
Video Editing and uploading -- Must understand audio and video formats, and have the ability to prep various sources for editing, then manage uploading to social networks, portable devices, and disc storage (in both video and data formats).
In every way, you will be directly responsible for ALL technology, and all information related to technology (serial numbers, passwords, etc.) (This includes cable TV boxes, game systems, phones, cameras, networking, printers, computers, phones, tablets, hard drives, servers, backup systems, uninterruptible power supplies, graphic tablets, Bluetooth devices (headsets, car interfaces, etc.), exercise bikes, and anything else you could imagine.)
In addition to the above, you will need to be or be able to quickly be:
Flexible, intelligent, and innovative. There will always be new challenges, and you MUST be able to adapt, learn, setup, and then teach others. Because technology is pivotal, you may always be dealing with the latest advances, and will need to be able to jump right in.
Expert at Mac setup and troubleshooting - This is not a tech support desk type of troubleshooting. You need to be able to challenge a Mac Genius' and understand how the Mac and the Mac OS operate. You'll also need to be able to install, troubleshoot, and upgrade PC machines as well. The more intuitive you are in troubleshooting the better. Diagnostic and operational experience with OS X Unix is a plus.
Expert iPhone/iPad and Android setup personal data sync and troubleshooting
Proficient at managing all data (media and documents) on iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches, iPods (of all types).
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Mac and PC), Expert in Outlook for Mac, (interfacing with Exchange IMAP servers, message archiving, moving messages between accounts and folders, rule writing, some scripting)
Proficient in Aperture, iPhoto, Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, Encore, Parallels, Windows XP through 7, Final Cut Studio, Toast, iTunes, Studio Artist, and (extra points for) Mosaic and Morphing software.
Proficient and knowledgeable with the setup, use, data sharing, and networking of Macs, PCs, Gaming Systems, Slingbox, Servers (Security and Data), etc.
About the boss:
He can be difficult to work for. You will have to be prepared to deal with a demanding boss who at times can be aggressive. This can be a high--stress environment because the priorities are always shifting and you MUST be able to multi-task and abandon one task and move to another at a moment's notice; with careful follow-through to complete abandoned tasks when time permits. You must have conviction in your choices for you will be relied upon to make the right recommendations and held accountable for those decisions.
This position will force you to continually grow. This is an environment that will push your abilities, and at times your sensibilities. (If you have a thin skin, or are overly emotional, this job is not for you.) It requires continual adjustment to ever--changing tasks with continually shifting priorities. This is a never--ending prove--yourself position filled with new deadlines and challenges (which also helps it to not become repetitive). You will need to demonstrate and be accountable for your efficiency in completing your tasks, for he will not automatically know how long or how hard your job is. Your position will sometimes require you to hold his hand through simple tasks (sometimes repeatedly), and other times he'll surprise you with some inspired knowledge.
This position requires absolute integrity, honesty, and confidentiality.
This is a salaried position with some scheduling flexibility, but you will be required to be accessible 24/7 to deal with technology emergencies, which may sometimes include calls on nights and/or weekends and in rare circumstances (e.g. a major crash of the boss' computer the night before he's leaving for a trip) may require working overnight to resolve a problem. Specific exceptions for nights/weekends (e.g. childcare obligations or education/religion) are understood and respected.

TRANSPORTATION:
You must have reliable transportation for travel from West Los Angeles to Malibu and back, as you job will be performed in both locations.
COMPENSATION:
Starting salary range = $40-$50K DOE with up to a 30% annual bonus based on performance and achievement (and boss' satisfaction)
