POSITION SUMMARY: - 2 Available

The first position is part-time for a major project of (300+ page) catalog design. The project starts July 1 and goes through approximately October 1st. Average 40 hours per week in July, overtime and heavy hours August and September. Must be willing to work late nights and weekends.
We have some branding guidelines in place, but looking for more creative layout design. A serious strength in Typography layout IMPORTANT - the more creative and beautiful the better!
The project is built in in-design. CS 4. Experience with pre-press required.

Position #2

This is an in-house position either in LA or Phoenix. As graphic designer, you will be responsible for designing a variety of projects including print graphics and advertisements, web content, point-of-purchase display and signage, business stationery, possibly some packaging design and other projects that may arise. This candidate will maintain advertising deadlines, help bid printing costs and research new design and technology. Must be able to answer design problems creatively and have an awareness of current trends in design and visual communications. In this position, you must have working knowledge of print technology, production, and working with budgets and timelines. Expert in creative layout and a passion/strength in typography required. As part of the creative marketing team, you will help the company come up with new and innovative ideas for branding, marketing and sales!

FLAVOR OF THE COMPANY
Upscale branding, very creative typography, unique, clean/serious with a twist, fashion//beauty/art magazine style layouts.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Position requires 3-5 years experience working as a professional designer - print required and web preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
Adobe CS4: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat required; Dreamweaver and Flash experience a plus.
Microsoft Office: Word required. Powerpoint and Basic Excel preferred.
Print ready production and project management required.
Website experience are a plus
Facebook, social media experience are a plus

CREATIVE
Excellent layout and very strong typography skills required. Artistic/fashion/magazine-style layout preferred.
Extremely curious and willing to research new techniques, trends and technology
Creative -- thinks "outside of the box"
Photography skills are a plus
Other artistic skills are a plus

WORK ETHIC

Great team player and successful at working independently
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Comfortable working closely with Brand/Art Director
Willing to work long hours and weekends to meet project deadlines if necessary (this is only for approximately 2 months out of the year).

FUNCTIONS OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Will work very closely with Brand/Art Director
Conceptualize and execute a variety of web, multi-media, and print projects as directed
Provide graphic designs for branding/identity, ads (web print), brochures, and various other print collateral
Writing/proofing some ad copy
Help conceptualize and develop effective user interface/experience web mock-ups
Follow brand identity standards, specifically colors, typefaces, and graphic styles, offering to improve all
Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and turn projects around quickly
Maintain ad deadlines
Assist in the upkeep of the design of the company website and photo library
Research better pricing, new techniques, trends and technology
Other requests as needed.
